When you think of a hatchback, you might not equate that feature with a luxury vehicle, but Porsche has designed two cars that redefine what you can expect from a hatchback. The 2021 Porsche Panamera is an impressive and dynamic 4-door sports car with a sedan profile that's powerful, refined, and practical. Meanwhile, the 2021 Cayenne is quintessential Porsche and, according to Car and Driver, "the driving enthusiast's first choice for a luxury SUV." Choosing between these two exciting and unique vehicles may be difficult but we've broken it down below in a side-by-side comparison to make your decision a little easier. 2021 Porsche Panamera vs 2021 Porsche Cayenne: Design & Utility

Both the 2021 Panamera and the 2021 Cayenne are beautiful machines with a streamlined profile and sculpted lines. Both offer standard 19-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and an automatic rear hatch for easy loading and unloading of cargo. Speaking of cargo, in the four-door Panamera, you get 17.6 cubic feet of space in the rear or lay the rear seats flat for a vast 47.3 cubic feet of room. While you get a little more cargo space in the Cayenne Coupe, the Cayenne SUV really delivers. With almost ten cubic feet more room behind the rear seats than the Panamera, the 2021 Cayenne SUV offers an immense 60.3 cubic feet of room when the rear seats are laid flat. While the Cayenne offers standard privacy glass for the rear windows, the Panamera comes with a standard panoramic roof system that brings in more natural light and makes the cabin feel more spacious.

2021 Porsche Panamera vs 2021 Porsche Cayenne: Comfort & Convenience

When you see the Porsche badging, you know that when you slip behind the wheel you'll be greeted with the ultimate in comfort. Both the 2021 Panamera and the Cayenne offer standard partial leather seats, a two-zone climate control, and 8-way power front seats. The Panamera offers standard heated front seats while that feature is optional on the Cayenne. While both luxury vehicles offer standard tinted, thermally-insulated glass, only the Cayenne comes with a heated windshield for those cold, frosty mornings. Full leather upholstery and 14-way power front seats are optional on both vehicles but only the 2021 Panamera offers optional heated and ventilated front and rear seats with massage functions. On the Cayenne those features are only available for the front seats.

The 2021 Panamera and the 2021 Cayenne keep you conveniently connected no matter how far home you may roam with the Porsche Communication Management system. The PCM includes online navigation, Bluetooth® for seamless audio streaming and hands-free calling, wireless Apple CarPlay® and wired Android Auto™. Voice control is standard fare on both vehicles so you can easily access your music, texts, and more without having to take your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road. While the Cayenne comes with a standard 10-speaker audio system, the Panamera gives you the option of two high-end sound systems: the 14-speaker Bose® or the 21-speaker Burmester® for a concert-like experience in every journey. The Panamera also offers standard wireless charging, a feature that is available on the Cayenne.

2021 Porsche Panamera vs 2021 Porsche Cayenne: Performance

There's not a lot of difference when it comes to horsepower as these two performance vehicles enter the market. The 2021 Panameras 2.9L twin turbocharged V6 pumps out a massive 325 horsepower and 331 lb/ft of torque while the 2021 Cayenne has a 3.0L turbocharged V6 that generates a thunderous 335 horsepower and 332 lb/ft of torque. Both can hit 60 from a dead stop in under six seconds but that's where the similarities end. The Panamera comes with an 8-speed PDK transmission with manual actuation and automatic mode and the Porsche Active Suspension Management. The Cayenne offers an 8-speed Tiptronic S with manual actuation and automatic mode that sends power through the Porsche Traction Management including active all-wheel drive for a more balanced, secure drive. The Cayenne SUV also gives you up to 9.6 inches of ground clearance for easier access to areas the Panamera wouldn't be able to travel.
